The Noctua NH-L9i is a cooler with a purpose; it's built to fit in the tightest of places and maintain extremely quiet operation and reasonable cooling results while doing so. A lot of small profile CPU coolers use ultra fast, and ultra noisy, fans to accomplish decent cooling results for their size, but that's not what I want for something like an HTPC where strong cooling isn't a huge requirement. Scenarios like that are where the NH-L9i has a great place - it'll cool your system and remain whisper quiet while doing so. Although the NH-L9i only had some higher end competition on my test results chart, it's performance on it's own was still very reasonable given the quiet operation that comes with it. The stress tests run on my system are likely to exceed the type of load anyone would actually put on a small form factor PC where the NH-L9i would be used. With a price tag of around $45 CDN, this a great little cooler that fills a fairly hollow segment of the CPU cooler market.
Extremely small and compact size, perfect for setups with very limited space for a CPU cooler
Very easy and fast installation
Designed to not interfere with RAM modules or nearby PCIe slots on small form factor motherboards
Pleasantly quiet operation for a smaller fan size
Price (only $45 CDN)
I'd like to see one version for both AMD and Intel platforms, especially for people like me who are always changing components
