A big initiative that's taken off over the last couple years is the whole "green computing" drive. Every manufacturer is striving to make their products more and more energy efficient, and programs like the 80PLUS organization help give PC power supplies a badge they can display to proudly show just how "green" they are. Many internal components, such as hard drives, are also following this path, and the transition we're seeing from LCD to LED displays only further helps this trend.
The last half of 2010 saw a lot more power supply manufacturers pushing 80PLUS Silver rated power supplies onto the market with more and more affordable price tags to accompany them. Now, to start 2011 off strong, Silverstone has proudly launched their Strider Plus Gold series - the same Strider Plus series that I am a huge fan of, but now with the increased efficiency that gains it the 80PLUS Gold badge. Time to put the 750W Strider Plus Gold up against my well loved 750W Strider Plus, and see just what the extra money will get you!
