I'm going to concentrate mostly on laptop and netbook users when asking this: what is the biggest con you find with most external CD/DVD writers on the market? The first thing that comes to mind for most people is that they're big, clunky and you have to carry not only the drive around but a big power adapter too. Although there are a select few bus-powered external burners on the market, most are still fairly pricey - something you aren't always willing to pay if you're using it on a netbook that only costs twice the price of the burner. Samsung has recently come out with two bus-powered, slim external DVD writers, one of which aims to conquer the high price setback of most of the competitors. The SE-S084 is a slim, USB bus powered DVD burner that can be found on the Canadian market for as low as $80. A compact footprint and good price will make this a must-have item in the fast growing netbook field.
