Testing:
To test the TS-219P II I'll be connecting it to my Linksys WRT-350N Gigabit router (which runs the DD-WRT Mega firmware). My desktop PC will be attached to the same router and I'll have a pair of drives inside the TS-219P II. I'll be testing the drives in single drive mode along with RAID 0 and RAID 1. Testing will be done with both the ATTO benchmark application and CrystalDiskMark x64. Results are posted and discussed below.
Single Disk:
RAID 0:
In the CrystalDiskMark benchmarks RAID 0 mode saw a very minor speed decrease over single disk mode on the sequential read/write test. On all other tests it was able to outperform single disk mode - especially in the write speed column where the 512k test was a speed gain of almost 9MB/s over single disk mode and the 4K and 4K QD32 tests where write speeds were close to double that of single disk mode.
RAID 1:
RAID 1 performance did take a bit of a performance hit over single drive and RAID 0 operating modes (although 4K QD32 write speeds were actually the fastest of any tested mode!).
