There's no shortage to the abundance of portable electronics these days. In our house we have several smartphones, a tablet, at least five digital cameras and a variety of other multimedia devices. Most of these devices have expandable memory via some form of card (most commonly SD or Micro SD). With the cheap prices of flash memory cards these days, each of these devices has at least one or more cards with it. Although most devices can be plugged right into my computer via USB, I tend to prefer using a card reader to transfer most of my data. With a card reader I can read and write directly to the card and skip over any bloated software or wizards I may need to use to accomplish this directly through the device.

For many years I've been using SilverStone's FP35 card reader extraordinaire to accomplish this, but am often left complaining when I have a micro card to read and it can't support it. Due to the age of the FP35, micro storage cards were not nearly as common on the market at the time of it's release and SilverStone opted to exclude a micro card slot in favor of packing even more features on the front of this nifty device. Now, several years later, a lot of the extra features found on the FP35 have been replaced by newer, better and faster technologies. The FP37 is the newer iteration of the FP35. The FP37 has nothing but card slots and a single USB 3.0 port on the front of it - which, as we'll see later, is actually an efficient replacement for the trio of ports it's replacing from the FP35.
