Mutant Mods Quad LED Fan
Review by: Steve
Provided by: Purchased

Introduction:

Dull black fans starting to bore you? When it comes to case modding, no case is complete without some LED fans for the added lighting and looks.
As we'll see here, Mutant Mods hasn't done all that bad of a job with creating an LED fan to do just that.

In The Box:
(1) LED Fan
(4) Mounting Screws

Specs:

  • Dimensions: 3.15 x 3.15 x 0.98 Inches (80 x 80 x 25 mm)
  • Fan Type: Dual Ball-Bearing
  • RPMs: 3000
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Airflow (CFM): 37.27
  • Noise Level (dB): <27
  • Connector: 3-Lead TX3
  • Fan Enclosure: Plastic

Installation:
Installation of this product went very easily. I simply had to hold it where I wanted and put the screws through the holes in my window and straight through into the fan.

Features:
Four (4) super bright LEDs illuminate the fan as well as shed a small bit of light into the case.
Fan is able to report fan speed if pluged into the motherboard.

Testing:
There aren't a lot of tests that can be done to a fan, but the ones I did consist of:

.overall noise
.overall airflow (hold hand up to fan)

For the noise of this fan, compared to the other fans in my case, I found it to be quite loud, you definately notice a drop in noise when this fan is turned off.

When holding my hand up to this fan there was very good airflow coming out, definately the airflow that Mutant Mods rates this fan at.

Conclusion:

Overall, if you're not very concerned about noise, this fan performs very well. Unlike some LED fans on the market, the 3 LEDs in this fan shed an excellent amount of light.

Pros:
Bright LEDs
Good airflow

Cons
Noise
No fan grill included

Rating: 6/10
