Features:
One of the features I really like on this monitor is it's ability to take both digital and analog inputs. Those with a newer video card that have a DVI plug will probably wish to use the digital ability for better quality and performance. But those without a newer video card can still use this monitor via any analog VGA output on your card. What makes this feature better is that Samsung includes cables for both setups! Most monitor manufacturers will only provide one or the other to keep their costs down a bit, but that isn't the case here.

The power supply for the 173P+ is external, which I'm sure you know by now isn't my favorite configuration because I hate having to find a place to set the external power supply. I would much prefer using only a power cord like some of their other monitors such as the 710N. As I have previously mentioned, this is a personal preference depending on where you set the monitor, and I like to keep my work area free of as many unneeded cables and boxes as necessary. Others probably don't care and this feature won't be a concern at all for them.

All the plugs on the monitor, both power and inputs are straight out the rear of the base which keeps them fairly out of the way and out of sight. The only problem you may have with this is if you try to use the monitor very close to a wall as these plugs do stick out a little bit and will interfere if you try to push it back very far.

The casing of the entire monitor is mainly a white solid covering with no ventilation holes. As I said with the 193P, the design and colour of the monitor really screams " Mac" styling to me which looks good anywhere! This monitor would also make a great addition to the new Mac Mini which doesn't come with a monitor. Although there are no ventilation holes, I did not find the 173P+ to get very hot at all, so it's very well designed thermally.

Now on to what Samsung calls the Dual-Hinge system on this monitor. There is a hinge on the base and another hinge farther up where the arm from the base connects to the monitor. You'll see in some of my pictures in this review that you can move and adjust the monitor a number of different ways. The monitor screen can also rotate a full 90 degrees so you can view documents in portrait mode. On the bottom of the base of the monitor there is a white strip with little rubber feet that go around the entire base. This white strip can also turn around so you can easily rotate the monitor when it is sitting on a desk!
