Moving on to the top of the camera all you'll find is the zoom slider and the switch to enable NitePix. NitePix allows illumination in dark area with the IR light so it can be seen easier by the camera. When viewing an area illuminated with this feature, everything is represented in a tone of green or black much like military night-vision goggles.

The right side of the camera is very barren. There is a button to adjust the shutter speed of the lens and the two PC connection plugs, USB and firewire.

On the back of the camera you'll find the optical viewfinder which conveniently slides out about 2cm to level up with the battery pack which also extends off the back of the camera. There is also the switch to turn the camera on, off or into viewer mode which will allow you to watch all recorded material on the tape or memory card.

If you flip over to the bottom you'll find a switch to release the battery, a switch to open the tape door, a 4in1 memory card reader and a tripod mount. The 4in1 card reader is an awesome feature, most cameras tend to stick to one type of media but Samsung gives you the choice of either Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, SD or MMC, all the most common memory cards.

Testing:
For testing of the camera I put all it's features through a few days of use and was unable to find any faults. One thing you'll want to note is if you take advantage of the full 900x digital zoom you'll want a very stable surface to set the camera on as it picks up even the tiniest of movements and magnifies them.
When using the picture feature of this camera it is obvious that you will not want to make this your primary still photo camera. The pictures are of fairly low quality, and the colouring is very off when used indoors without proper lighting. When using any camera that does not use a flash you must remember that the colours will not be balanced unless using sunlight or photo flood lights. It's a great feature for just taking quick snaps of something to refer to later, but that's about all I'd recommend it for.
The included remote is also a great feature and makes operating the basic functions of the camera from a distance very easy. This would come in handy when shooting videos of which you are included  and stopping the recording from a distance and not having to run up in front of the camera to hit the stop button as I'm sure we've all seen done in home movies before :)

Conclusion:
Overall I was very pleased with the Samsung SCD305 Digital Camcorder. It's packed with great features and plenty of great accessories are included as well! For anyone wanting to save some of those "precious moments" forever or create some videos or movies (do I sense a Blair Witch 2...?) then this camera would be a great investment and highly recommended!

Pros:
Included stylish carrying case
LCD
NitePix
4-in-1 memory card reader
900x digital zoom, 20x optical
USB and Firewire PC interface

Cons:
Including a tape to get you started would be a good idea

Rating: 9/10
