On the right side of the player you will find 3 headphone jacks and the volume knob. Three headphone jacks are an awesome feature to allow other people to listen into your movie with you so you're not disturbing anyone else nearby. The volume is controlled via a round knob on the same side. Since the volume control is not digital it can not be controlled from the included remote.

On to the remote! This thing is tiny, measuring 4.3x10.5x0.7CM. It controls most of the features that can also be done on the player, as well as some extras. One of the extras that I liked was the ability to turn off the LCD screen but leave the device still playing, so if you are listening to an MP3 CD you can turn off the display to save battery power.

Installation:
There is nothing to really install with the portable DVD player. Just click in the battery, plug in the adapter and charge!

Testing:
For testing the DVD player I obviously watched a couple DVD movies as well as played some MP3 CDs.
Once the DVD in inserted and the power turned on the DVD will play just like it would on your TV. This usually involves a navigation system/menu of some kind. Navigating this menu is done with the small digital navigation button and the enter button. Just like on a regular TV, I selected "Play Movie" and when the enter button was pressed the movie played (what else would it do?)

I was very surprised on the crisp quality of the image on the player's LCD screen. With the screen being very clear and crisp it makes watching a movie on such a small device (compared to TV) very easy.
The audio also sounded quite good. Coming from speakers of such small size it isn't anything over-powering or superior, but for the small group that may be gathered around the player watching a movie they get the job done. If you don't want to use the internal speakers, there are 3 headphone jacks for personal listening or an audio output jack. Hey,,, you could also plug in a set of sub-woofer speakers or patch the player into a nearby stereo if these are available.

When playing an MP3 CD, all the directories and files are easily navigated using the digital joypad.
Conclusion:
The DVD-L1200 is a great little device. If you travel alot and like to bring some movies to watch and maybe a bit of music too, this is just the device for you. The price tag of around $1300 Canadian may make it available to a select crowd, but as portable DVD players become more common I'm sure prices may start to drop.
Pros:
Small size
LCD Screen
Plays many media types
Battery or Adapter powered
Included case
Cons:
Speakers could be a tad bigger with maybe another watt or two. Size may become an issue though.
