Features:
For being a relatively small sized theatre system I was quite impressed with the HT-P38 and with the many features it had to offer compared to some other systems on the market.

First I'll talk about the speakers themselves. It is a 5.1 surround system which means there are 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer. The speakers are positioned as front center, front left, front right, rear left, and finally rear right. The front center speaker is shorter and wider compared to the other 4 speakers and is usually intended to go right above your TV. The front center is also the speaker where the majority of dialogue will come from in movies, so this speaker should be positioned where it can easily be heard no matter where you are situated in the listening environment.

Next I'll talk about the receiver itself. The receiver is the unit that houses both the 5 DVD changer, Dolby Digital Decoder and the Amplifier. At the left rear of the receiver there are 6 outputs, each of which lead to a speaker. As you can see from the picture below these plugs are colour coded to match the 6 sets of wires that come with the system and run to each speaker. To the right of the outputs there is a small cooling fan which is an excellent idea because running both a 5 DVD changer and 800W amp can get toasty, and the fan will help keep everything running safe and cool. On the left rear there are two component inputs which have RCA audio and video connectors, as well as the video out which will lead to your TV with either an SVideo or RCA cable. There is also a digital audio in connection and progressive scan video output. In the upper right corner there are connectors for a radio antenna.
The radio antenna is included with the HT-P38 and one of the input modes you can change to is the radio! You can cycle through all the radio stations that any stereo system can get and listen to them over your surround sound home theatre system if nothing is on TV. Yet another little feature that can go a long way!
