Testing:
The SteelSound 4H had performance much like I've come to expect from SteelSeries. Being a mid-range priced headset I obviously didn't expect it to perform like the much more expensive 5H headset or even my Icemat Siberia headset which I use often as well. It's performance was still very good, and usually $80 Canadian will get you a decent headset. Throughout the variety of uses and tests I ran with the 4H I wasn't disappointed at all. Since the 4H is a gaming headset it's frequency response is custom tuned for exactly that. Nothing is holding you back from using it for everything else though - and it still sounds very good on other audio uses - but it will truly shine when gaming.

When comparing the build quality of the 4H to both the higher end 5H and the lower 3H I did notice one thing. The 5H headset completely dismantles for transportation, the cheaper 3H folds up really small, but the 4H does neither.

Conclusion:
SteelSeries has done a great job coming out with a mid-range priced gaming headset. The 4H offers great bang for your buck and won't let you down in looks or performance. Sharing a lot of features with the 5H such as retractable mic, volume control clip and large padded ear cups and headband, you have nothing to worry about if you can't afford the 5H over it's little brother the 4H.

Pros:
Retractable mic
Large padded ear cushions
Great sounding
Volume/mic control clip
Long cable

Cons:
Not collapsible

Rating: 9/10
