Spam Filter
Spam, it clutters up all of our inboxes and is sure to anger everyone who simply wants to check their email but has to sort through piles of unsolicited emails. SteelSecurity also offers a built in spamfilter to help identify this spam in your inbox and clean it up. When browsing the settings for this area of the program I was let down to see it only supports Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express for full functionality. In this day and age, most hardcore gamers and computer enthusiasts turn to alternative clients that are more customizable and/or secure for their liking. I for one, am like many others and use the ever popular Mozilla Thunderbird client. Although not natively supported, SteelSecurity will still tag incoming emails suspected as spam in the subject line of the email to be seen in your inbox no matter what client you use. This is because the filter lays between your email internet ports and the software meaning that all emails pass through the filter before reaching your client. Although it will still tag it as spam, full functionality is not available in other software. For those willing to play with some settings though, it's easy to make software like Thunderbird have a filter to move all emails with the SteelSecurity spam marking in the subject to the Junk folder. Although that can be done, I think seeing native support for more email clients would be a great update in the future.

Backups
Almost all off-the-shelf backup software does your backups by simply copying the files to another location on your computer. Be it another hard drive, partition or external media, the point is; these files are still on your physical computer. Should that computer be damaged or stolen, even though backed up, chances are those files would be lost. The backup method in SteelSecurity is different in the sense that your backups are probably hundreds to thousands of miles away from your computer. Allow me to quote this excerpt from their site:

"Your files and documents are stored on our custom built backup servers which are placed in hardened, temperature and humidity controlled bunkers 25 meters above sea-level in an earthquake free zone. These first line servers are backed up on identical second line servers placed in a separate geographical location with 300 Km (186 Miles) separation."

Everyone who purchases SteelSecurity is given a free 1gb online backup drive, accessible from anywhere in the world online, even without the software on the computer you're accessing it from! If you want more space, you can pay for a bigger backup drive with sizes up to 5gb available. All backups are completely encrypted using a 128 bit SSL transfer. With the option to schedule backups, you can set it and forget it!

Conclusion:
The SteelSecurity suite left me with a solid impression by the time I was done testing it. It eliminates the need to run many individual CPU and memory intensive programs for antivirus protection, backups, spam filtering and a firewall. Uninstall all those and free up the memory and CPU space because this one simple program has moved in to take their places. Don't let it's ease of use deceive you though, SteelSecurity is a powerful program assured to keep you safe and protected in all your online (and offline) endeavours and adventures. So while you're saving the world and running colonies on other planets, no one one this planet will be able to gain access to your computer and give you a virus or do damage.

Pros:
Easy to use, yet very powerful at the same time
Eliminates using several pieces of CPU-heavy software for protection and backup
A packed program for the price!
Performance is great
Gaming profiles automatically detect launched game and switch to it's profile

Cons:
Program window isn't re-sizable, sometimes feels cluttered when scrolling through stuff
Spam filter has very limited email client compatibility

Rating: 8.5/10
