The external styling of the 931BW is kept very simple and sleek looking. The colour is mostly all black, with a silver strip along the front bottom edge. The round silver power button is between the silver strip and the regular black bezel. When powered on, this button has a soft blue backlit ring around the bottom half. Five buttons for adjusting various display properties and navigating the monitor's menu are found on the bottom front edge. These buttons and the styling can be clearly seen in the images below.

A nice added touch was a cleaning cloth that is included with this monitor. That will let you safely clean the monitor's surface to keep viewing at it's best.

Installation:
Installation is quick and easy, so not much to say here. First you remove the rear cover plate on the bottom half of the monitor. The interface cable plugs into the monitor and your video card and the power cable plugs into the monitor and a 120 volt power outlet. Drivers are on the included CD, or if you're like me you usually get the latest driver from the Samsung web site.

Testing:
The monitor received the usual test that any monitor we review gets, which is a few days of full usage. During that time I'm sure to do everything any computer enthusiast would do. I play games, browse the internet, work on the site, watch some video's and DVD's and I even threw on some HD videos for fun too.

In terms of LCD Monitors these days, it's pretty hard to find a "bad" one when you're paying in the price range of the 931BW. The high contrast ratio of 2000:1 gives it stunning colours, and would definitely be the feature that will set it apart from other monitors when your comparison shopping. Fast response times like 4ms and 2ms are becoming far more common now and the 931BW having the 2ms response time is no exception. Personally, I can comfortably play games and watch DVD videos on my current 12ms Samsung monitor. Having monitors that are 2ms seems a little overkill, but the advances in technology in such a short period of time are marvellous. The word "ghosting" is hardly even used with monitors this fast anymore, and it wasn't all that long ago I had to mention that word.

Conclusion:
For those of you looking for a 19" widescreen display, the Samsung 931BW offers a great option for just around $300 Canadian. Not only does it have excellent specs and performance, but the styling and design is yet another attractive feature. This is yet another great monitor in the Samsung line.

Pros:
Dual interfaces, analog and digital DVI
Widescreen
Sleek styling
Included cleaning cloth is a nice touch
Fast response time and high contrast ratio
Great performance

Cons:
19" isn't a great widescreen size because of the height loss, only 900 pixels high
