The super.fi series from Ultimate Ears has 5 different sets of earphones available in it, ranging from $80US (the set below the ones we reviewed) up to $400US for the triple.fi 10 Pros. The super.fi 3 we have is a single driver unit, all of the models that are above this one are all dual driver.
Installation: Testing: Running a part time studio, I listen to all my music on high quality active reference monitors. No hyped up surround set for me at the computer, I need detail and clarity. After doing that for so long, I'm very used to the way music should sound. This unfortunately makes me picky with headphones and earphones, really hyped-up sound just doesn't work for me like it used to. I was impressed when I had my first listening sitting with the super.fi 3's. The clarity was awesome and just like their professional products, they play sound the way it was meant to be heard - without huge EQ hyping. The frequency response is relatively flat, which is what adds to the sparkle and shine when you're listening to your music. Everything can clearly be heard just the way it was intended to be. Having only single driver ear pieces, the bass response isn't massive like some dual driver units have. However, unless you're listening to a lot of rap/hip-hip or heavy rock, this probably won't be a huge issue for you. I used these earphones for a few days straight, I powered down the studio monitors and used these as my only source to listen to my music collection on. I'm pretty sure I covered listening to just about every genre in that amount of time, with no complaints. Noticeably, I couldn't find anything to complain about with my listening experience. Conclusion: Pros: Cons:
