The NexStar MX is a dual SATA I/II 3.5" hard drive enclosure. With 3.5" drives coming in sizes up to 1TB per single drive, this enclosure could allow a potential 2TB of external storage on your system! If your using it for regular file storage or for backups the NexStar MX has a huge list of potential uses!

The looks of the NexStar MX are phenominal. It's a very well designed black aluminum enclosure with the front and back plates being plstic. The front has a wide grey aluminum strip with three LED's and the Vantec and SATA logos on it. As you can see in the pictures below, it's very sharp looking!

Although an enclosure like this has a footprint big enough to support itself, Vantec has also included a nice little plastic stand just to make sure it keeps a secure footing on your desk.

Cooling is provided through not only a vented front grill, but also a fan in the back. The slots in the front are something a lot of enclosures lack but they allow perfect airflow from the front to the back of the enclosure, effectivly passing over both drives to carry the heat out the back. This venting is very important if you have ever touched a large hard drive and realised the heat generated by a typical 500 gig hard drive compared to smaller drives. Personally I don't think I would buy a hard drive enclosure for large capacity drives that wasn't vented.
