When in use, I had absolutely no problems or complaints about the performance of the NexStar MX enclosure. The only thing I'd like to point out is that the small fan in the back can be slightly noisy, especially to users like me who have a very quiet computer system. This would be expected because smaller fans must move faster to get similar airflow compared to larger fans, and with the ability to run two 1TB drives, you can imagine things can get a little hot inside without a fan!

Whether you're looking for a great backup system or just a way to add a lot of external storage to your system, then the Vantec NexStar MX would make a great start to this endevour. Being very user friendly assures that even the most novice of users can easily handle setup and be up and running in no time! The included backup software is something most other manufactuers don't have to offer with their products! Although the absense of firewire and more advanced RAID options may hold it back for some, the Vantec NexStar MX is still an excellent dual drive enclosure and is sure to get the job done!

Ability to hold two drives
Styling is excellent
Manufacturing quality is great
Included ArcSoft TotalMedia Backup was a plus!
JBOD or single-drive modes are selectable

No firewire option
Additional RAID modes would satisfy the needs of more "power users"
