Features:
I was surprised by the compact size of the I-Series enclosure, especially for being able to hold two full size 3.5" drives. When I was first unpacking it I had to actually hold a hard drive up to it just to confirm it was truly wide enough because it's seems much smaller than past dual 3.5" drive enclosures I've used. The front is customizable so if you don't like that bright orange bezel then you can easily remove it and put on the grey one that they also include. Inside the small cutout of the bezel you'll see the Eagle logo with a large clear illuminated circle beside it. The bottom has four circular feet providing some elevation for the enclosure. Other than the standard USB and power connections on the back of the I-Series enclosure, you'll also find a power switch, backup button and a 6cm fan.

The one-touch backup feature on this enclosure is taken care of with FNet Corporation's PC CloneEX LITE software. This allows you to setup a backup routine to be run every time the Backup button on the back of the enclosure is pressed. Although they advertise cross-platform compatibility with Windows, Mac OS and Linux, the backup software will only run on the Windows OS. For those running Windows Vista, you'll actually have to go to Eagle Tech's website for an updated version because the software on the included CD is XP-only. I would have much preferred if the backup button were located in a more convenient spot such as the front of the enclosure (making the illumination light double as a button would be nice!). My only reason for saying this is because where I have the enclosure on my desk allows easy access to the front but I have to stand up in order to reach behind it to find the button; this might make it more of a hassle for some people.

Internally, the I-Series enclosure will accept two 3.5" SATA I/II hard drives. Eagle Tech. says the maximum supported capacities are 1TB per drive, allowing for 2TB overall storage space between the two drives. By using JBOD (Just A Bunch of Disks) the capacities of both internal hard drives are combined into one large drive which is what the system see's. This is all taken care of by the circuitry inside the enclosure itself so there's no tricky system setup you need to do - just plug and go!
