The Consus L-Series 2.5" enclosure is a highly stylish all-in-one drive enclosure for a 2.5" SATA drive. As you can see from my pictures below, the front panel is leather with an attaché style of leather flap that buttons over the front. When opened, this flap reveals a short (approx. 4.5cm) built-in USB cable. The built-in cable eliminates the need to carry an extra cable with you when you're on the go, something we all can admit makes things a bit more of a hassle. Although you'll have to be careful where you're plugging this drive in with this short cable, it should be fine for most cases that have easily accessable front USB ports. The rest of the enclosure is made of solid aluminum to not only stand up to the abuse of the road but also to provide a way of conducting heat away from the internal drive.

Opening the enclosure is as easy as removing the two screws you see at the top half of the back plate. Once removed, these screws will unattach the leather flap as well as allow you to slide the back plate up slightly to undo the two hooks used to hold the lower half on. Inside, installation is as easy as just sliding your 2.5" SATA drive into the connector then putting things back together again. The tight fit inside these small enclosures means you don't always have to fasten down the drive like you would in a full sized 3.5" drive enclosure.

Since it uses a 2.5" drive, the enclosure is powered by means of USB only. For most computers, the USB plug built right into the enclosure will be all you need. However, if you're running a drive that requires more power or a computer that isn't supplying enough power to the USB ports then you may wish to use the included USB extension cable. This extension cable is actually a Y cable as well, providing one female end to plug the enclosure into and two male ends to go into two separate USB ports for more power. Of course you don't have to use both male ends if only one port will power your enclosure. You may wish to use this cable simply as a means to extend the short built-in cable if your computer isn't easily accessable.
