Since the Value 430 is aimed at providing what the name implies - value - it's made of an unpainted zinc chassis instead of painted metals or a nickel chassis' which are more harmful to the environment. As you can see from my pictures, it looks very much like any OEM power supply you'd find inside a prebuilt system. The sticker on the side of the power supply does hint again at the eco-friendlyness by using the green leaf theme that's continued throughout the marketing of this supply.

Since you can't judge a book by it's cover, it's what is inside the Value 430 that really counts. It's a high efficiency power supply which is rated to always maintain an energy efficiency of 80% or higher. For you, this means less of the power coming out of your outlet will be wasted. Nexus' testing charts do show efficiency right up to 85% when the power supply is under a low enough load. I realize this is a budget priced power supply, but I'd really like to see them get it officially 80PLUS certified because I know many people will only buy based on seeing that logo as opposed to just taking a company's word for it.

Since it's high efficiency, it's also quiet, with noise levels dropping as low as 15dBA. I've always trusted Nexus when it comes to providing accurate test results because they not only explain in depth how their testing procedure works but they will often provide actual pictures of the product itself in the acoustic testing chamber. I've included the picture below of their noise level test results for this power supply.

Cooling for the power supply is provided by a single 120mm, thermally controlled fan. It's Muhua Industrial's MH1225L12S model of fan - I was unable to find any further specifications on this fan during my research.

One of the things likely to keep the price of the Value 430 just a little higher than a "cheap" power supply is the use of an Active PFC circuit versus that of a cheaper Passive PFC. For a really good description of how PFC (power factor correction) works, I'm going to quote Nexus directly from the box of the Value 430:
"Power factor Correction (PFC) allows the power distribution system to operate at maximum efficiency. This does not so much influence your electricity bill but it will reduce energy consumption at the side of the power provider so it is contributing to using our planets resources better and more carful. Active PFC is technically more complex then passive PFC and better matches the overall high quality standard of this Nexus power supply."

As expected from a simple, value level power supply, all the cables are non-modular. Nexus did go as far as to sleeve them all though, which is certainly a nice touch for the low price! Connections are as follows:
1x 20+4 Pin Motherboard Connector
1x 4+4 Pin 12V Motherboard Connector
1x 6+2 Pin PCI-Express Connector
1x 6 Pin PCI-Express Connector
4x SATA Connectors
6x Molex Connectors
1x Floppy Connector
