Features:
The 2232GW sports a very simple, yet very elegant design to it. As you can see in the pictures, there's really nothing fancy put on the monitor. The casing is a very sleek and curved gloss black and the screen itself is also glossy - something I haven't seen on very many LCD's from Samsung. This gloss coating is something Samsung calls MagicClear and it's supposed to help offer even richer colours and images.

(Shiny much?)

On the back of the monitor this simplicity stays the same. All connections are vertical and they include power, DVI and analog video inputs. The power supply on this monitor is built in so you just need to run a standard IEC power cable to it (included of course) and you're good to go; no need to worry about external power bricks like many other LCDs out there. The DVI input also supports HDCP so you can view all your protected content without a worry and be able to use this display with ease on Windows Vista as well.

A 3000:1 contrast ratio is achieved by the monitors ability to dynamically control backlight brightness and gamma. If you were to rate it at a static contrast ratio it would be closer to 1000:1. The 2ms response time of the 2232GW is another technical similarity it shares with the previously released 22" 226BW display from Samsung. This display also had a 2ms response time and 3000:1 contrast ratio. Specs like this coupled with the widescreen ratio make this an ideal monitor for digital media and gaming computers.

The 2232GW runs at a resolution of 1680x1050 which is the common resolution that most 20-22" LCDs run at. Smaller displays, like 19" ones, will usually run at around 1440x900 which actually loses a bit of height compared to a standard 4:3 display at 1280x1024. Displays larger than 22" typically enter a new category of resolution size as well as an entirely different and higher price range.
