Features:
The shape of the Ikari is the first thing you'll notice, even before it's fully unpacked. Unlike most mice, it's wider in the middle and the top half has a very unique curve to it. This design is supposed to be one of the many features of the mouse that was influenced by top gaming groups worldwide. It's shape is supposed to accommodate the predominant methods of grip that are used by gamers. Although I think this is a good idea, I wish they would have also catered more to ergonomics as I will discuss in more detail later.

On the left side of the mouse, right below where the buttons are at their lowest point, is the High/Low indicator lights. These are bright white LED indicators that show if you currently are on high sensitivity or low sensitivity modes. These modes are selected using the button directly behind the scroll wheel. You can choose the high/low CPI levels through either the included setup software or just using the mouse itself. If you press the button for a couple of seconds, the screen on the bottom of the mouse (yes, there's a small screen there - see images) will display the value for the current mode selected. You can then use the scrollwheel to select a new high/low value, then pressing the sensitivity button again will save it to the mouse. When not in editing mode, the screen on the bottom of the mouse will display the current profile name.

Drivers? Who needs them.
In the gaming world where every CPU cycle counts, running unnecessary drivers can severely bog down your system. SteelSeries has come up with a new solution to drivers - run them from within the mouse itself! The mouse has a memory that will remember all of your current profile settings and programmed macros. This way you don't need to install drivers to slow down your computer and when you take your mouse to another computer you will still have all of YOUR settings with you. For those who want a graphical way to program the mouse, there is an included software program that will make your profile setups and saving easy.

The USB connector on the end of the 2m long braided cable is gold plated. Anyone in electronics knows that gold plating connectors will help them resist corrosion, last longer and have better connectivity versus regular metal ends. The USB interface of the mouse polls the computer at 1000hz vs the regular 125hz of standard USB devices. This increased polling rate can mean that the mouse may suffer some performance loss if used on certain hubs so Steel recommends plugging it directly into the computer.
