Installation: Testing:
No consumer power supply will ever have perfect voltages so the Tuniq Potency 550W is well within it's safe range of +/-10% on each voltage. The good thing is that it is able to maintain steady voltage even when the computer is under 100% load and thus stressing the power supply more. Being into building silent PCs, I consider myself someone who cares slightly more about how loud a power supply is than most people. When I can build a system with nearly all dead-silent fans and passivly cooled components, the power supply will be one of the two fans in the system that can make or break what my ear hears. For this reason, I've always had one power supply that I take with me from system to system because it not only performs well but it's still one of the absolute quietest I've tested to date. The Seasonic S12II is my benchmark power supply when it comes to low noise levels because as I've said, I have yet to find another power supply that performs as quiet as the S12II. With that being said, the Tuniq Potency is so close in terms of noise levels that I had to do a head to head comparison to notice that it's ever-so-slightly louder, to a degree where I wouldn't notice it unless I was specifically listening for it. To say the least, this left me impressed with the performance in this area. I test alot of power supplies here and I will honestly say that they are all very quiet performers lately because of the push in the 80PLUS category. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend most when it comes to low noise levels, but the Tuniq power supply really does stand out just a little more alongside my favourite Seasonic.
