Installation:
Installation went without a hitch in my Silverstone KL01 case. I will point out that the cables do measure up slightly shorter than some hardwired power supplies. Each cable measures approximately 23" long and cables that have two connectors on them measure about 16.5" to the first connector with the remaining 6.5" going to the other one. Those using a typical mid-tower case won't even notice this, infact they will probably like having less cable clutter from it. However, those using larger cases may find themselves at a bit of a stretch if the case design has the power supply mounted at the top (this would make a great supply in cases where the power supply is mounted at the bottom because then it's near the hard drives and motherboard connectors so cable length doesn't matter as much).

Testing:
Testing Disclaimer: To truly test a computer power supply to it's fullest extent would require equipment far beyond the budget of any part time reviewer. For that reason, our power supply tests are simple real world tests done by measuring it's performance when running in an above-average computer system as well as observing overall noise levels. Since any good power supply should be able to regulate it's voltages, I never expect to see much of a change in terms of voltage measued. Therefore, the testing portion of our power supply reviews should be taken as some overall, realworld feedback on the power supply.

  Idle Load
+3.3 3.40 3.40
+5.0 5.03 5.03
+12.0 12.19 12.19

No consumer power supply will ever have perfect voltages so the Tuniq Potency 550W is well within it's safe range of +/-10% on each voltage. The good thing is that it is able to maintain steady voltage even when the computer is under 100% load and thus stressing the power supply more.

Being into building silent PCs, I consider myself someone who cares slightly more about how loud a power supply is than most people. When I can build a system with nearly all dead-silent fans and passivly cooled components, the power supply will be one of the two fans in the system that can make or break what my ear hears. For this reason, I've always had one power supply that I take with me from system to system because it not only performs well but it's still one of the absolute quietest I've tested to date. The Seasonic S12II is my benchmark power supply when it comes to low noise levels because as I've said, I have yet to find another power supply that performs as quiet as the S12II. With that being said, the Tuniq Potency is so close in terms of noise levels that I had to do a head to head comparison to notice that it's ever-so-slightly louder, to a degree where I wouldn't notice it unless I was specifically listening for it. To say the least, this left me impressed with the performance in this area. I test alot of power supplies here and I will honestly say that they are all very quiet performers lately because of the push in the 80PLUS category. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend most when it comes to low noise levels, but the Tuniq power supply really does stand out just a little more alongside my favourite Seasonic.
