Installation:
The X-Wing is plug and play on any computer with USB functionality and does not require any drivers for operation.
Testing:
While in use, the X-Wing cooling pad performed quite well and temperature drops in the laptop were noticable in certain situations. I was surprised to hear that even at full speed, the fan still remained relatively quiet and pleasing to the ears.
The touch-sensative control panel worked without a hitch although I wish there would be a way to turn the button "beep" on and off so I could use it while others are asleep near my computer room.
Conclusion:
The GlacialTech X-Wing is a great looking and well performing laptop cooling pad. It's stylish looks provide not only exceptional cooling for your laptop but it also provides an ergonomic elevation and extra function keys for laptop operation. Those features combined with the built-in USB hub make this a great cooling pad to double as a docking station on a desktop too. Coming in four different colours, the X-Wing will be available soon for a MSRP of $59.99USD.
Pros:
Great styling available in four colour choices
Touch-sensative buttons help to handle basic cooling control and media functionality
Overall quiet operation when in use
Built-in 3-port USB hub
Included carry pouch is a nice touch
Cons:
Should swap the volume buttons, I always go to press the one on the right for volume up like most devices
I wouldn't mind seeing a way to disable and enable the button "beep"
