Normally I don't talk much about the top of a case, but the Maelstrom actually has a surprising amount of features up there. Near the front portion is a panel with the Maelstrom logo in green, on/off buttons and a plethora of accessible connections. The connections provided are headphones, mic, 4xUSB, 1x6-pin Firewire and 2xE-SATA. Notice that InWin has put nearly twice the number of USB and E-SATA ports here than most cases have, so you shouldn't need to crawl around to the back very much! The rest of the top panel is a large mesh for two 120mm fans - InWin includes one top fan right out of the box. Between the two fan mounts is a punched InWin logo plate.

With all the fan mounts we're seeing on this case, I was rather surprised to see the right panel had no ventilation holes or fan mounts! Rather, they've just put a plain black panel on the right side.

Around back you can see that InWin has chosen to use an alternative layout for your internal peripherals. The power supply actually goes at the bottom of the case, with everything else shifted up accordingly. This is a design a lot of manufacturers are starting to use on higher end ATX cases because it gives better component isolation for cooling purposes. Notice that all the slot covers are black mesh, of course the black colour sticks well with the whole colour scheme but the mesh also provides further cooling and ventilation. Above where the power supply mounts is a row of four rubber grommets where water cooling tubes can be run through. These are often used if you have external components in your water cooling system (pump, reservoir, etc.). A lot of manufacturers are only putting two tubing holes on their higher end cases to serve as in/out, but InWin is leaving every possibility open by including four.

When I removed the side panels of the case I was very surprised to find that both panels were lined with egg-crate style foam. In a case running this many fans, this will certainly help absorb a little noise. In the lower corner where the power supply mounts there are four rubber feet to actually set the supply on. The entire bottom of the case in this corner is also a large punched mesh so the power supply can breath sufficiently. The one 5.25" drive bay holds a small tray of all the tool-less mounts you will need for installing your components. All the 3.5" bays are 90-degrees to the 5.25" bays. It's also worth noting that all the 120mm fans have 3-pin connectors so they can be easily monitored and controlled by any motherboard or fan controller w/RPM sensor - this is a nice touch when most stock case fans use nothing more than a molex connector for power. InWin is nice enough to include two 3-pin to molex adapters should your system not have enough connectors for all these fans.
