Introduction:
The "do it yourself" recording revolution is at an all time high - budget level equipment is becoming very abundant and many manufacturers are making easy "all in one" solutions for beginners to get their feet wet without the steep learning curve traditionally associated with professional recording. More and more kids are starting to record their own simple tracks in their bedrooms and an increasing number of bands are starting to cut their own demos to keep money in the bank. When you're starting out, it's always nice to buy to the best gear you can afford for your money and to not cheap out where it really matters. Most people overlook the importance of good monitors, or even monitors at all when mixing their music. Having a good set of monitors will help you accurately hear what's going on in your mix to better craft your work of art to sound exactly how you want it.

Traditionally the only way to get the Mackie name on your monitors was to buy from their lone HR series - which are out of the budget of most small-time recording hobbyists and are highly acclaimed professional level monitors. Mackie does have their Tapco brand, but it's very budget minded. When Mackie released their MR series of monitors, people jumped at the idea of getting the same high quality monitoring technology Mackie is known for, but at a fraction of the cost. Having reviewed several sets of monitors here in the past, and having personally used even more, I've been trying for a long time to get a set of these MR monitors myself to review here for you. Today, that day has arrived!
