Features:
I was really quite surprised at the features of the Samsung SPF-85P when I started examining this product closer. It seemed to take all the features that most standard digital frames have and then added some more unique features - ones I felt could be very useful in some situations. For a price averaging around $155 Canadian, one certainly wasn't paying a whole lot more for these extra goodies when comparing it to any other good quality, name-brand 8" frames on the market.

Storage is taken care of in two fashions; with the internal memory and with memory cards. Built right into the frame is 1gb of flash memory - enough to hold several hundred photos right out of any digital camera. For those that take the time to downsize their photos to the native resolution of the frame, you might be able to fit close to 1000+ pictures into this 1gb. Internal memory is accessed via the computer when the frame is connected in Mass Storage mode. If you want the convenience of inserting your camera's memory card right into the frame for viewing then the SPF-85P does incorporate a 4-in-1 memory card reader as well. It will read SD, MMC, MS and xD memory cards - no mention of any SDHC card support at this time.

The slideshow mode is programmable, with transition type, speed (3 steps) and play mode being modifiable. There is a setting to display a clock overlay but no customization can be done beyond "on" and "off" for that one. The clock overlay itself almost fills the entire top third of the screen using large white numerals with the date below. I found this quite distasteful and distracting from the pictures. Being able to chose orientation, colour and size would be a nice touch for the clock overlay.

(Note the very subtle and stylish pattern in the black frame)
