Features:
The box of the GD04 is much like all Silverstone case boxes; it's a black box with colour pictures, logos and text. Although more expensive to produce than a plain box, I do admit that they grab my attention a lot more in the local computer store. Below is a photo of the box, for your viewing pleasure.

Unboxed, the GD04 is a fairly simple black case with some minor white accents for logos/buttons. Silverstone ditched the very smooth, flowing lines we've seen in past HTPC case reviews like the LC13 and LC20, and went for a very square look with the GD04. Being a smaller case (M-ATX form factor), this is a look that really suits it and makes it flow well with other components. The 32cm depth makes this a case that will easily fit on a component shelf in your entertainment unit too - much easier than the deeper full-ATX HTPC cases I've reviewed from Silverstone in the past.

The front bezel of the GD04 is a beautiful brushed black aluminum panel. There's no doubt that this is a very popular trend for Silverstone's HTPC cases since every one I've ever had the chance to review has had brushed aluminum bezel. In my opinion, this is one of the many things that really make the overall build quality and price of this case show, even to people who may know very little about HTPC's. It doesn't take a computer guy to know that brushed aluminum isn't a cheap feature on anything, computer cases included. The layout of this front bezel is kept quite simple really, two USB and audio ports in the lower left corner, power and reset buttons in the lower right, and the optical drive slot in the upper right. To make things flow nicely, the optical drive sits behind the bezel and a strip of brushed aluminum sticks on the front of the tray that sits flush with the front bezel. Should you wish to mount something else in this slot, or maybe you have a weird optical drive facia, the new GD05 case replaces this pre-cut optical drive area with a normal 5.25" bay.

Spinning the case around to the right side and you'll start to see the abundant [overkill?] amounts of cooling this little guy really has. Silverstone includes two 120mm fans in the right side of the case and yet another on the left side! The grills for these fans are stamped right into the painted side panels and are very large for excellent airflow. The grill on the left side also has mounting holes for an 80mm fan should you choose to downsize the included 120mm. All 120mm fans have fan filters attached to the side of the fan that isn't mounted to the case, so cleaning them is as easy as sliding the top off the case. Since all the fans are 3-pin and not all motherboards have three connectors for case fans, an adapter is included that splits one molex plug from your power supply into three 3-pin fan power leads.

The top panel also has a small stamped grill overtop of the motherboard slots, but does not have the ability to hold a fan.
