Installation:
The Wing 12PL will mount anywhere you can fit a 120mm fan. If you aren't using it with a PWM system, then the ability to connect it to a regular 3-pin fan header will provide some added flexibility. GELID is kind enough to include both rubber fan mounts and regular mounting screws too. Rubber mounts are always preferred to cut back on vibrational noise, but may not always work depending on where you are mounting the fan.

Testing:
To best judge the sound levels of the Wing 12PL fan, I will be testing it in a quiet room while powered from a fan-less AC adapter. This gives me the ideal environment to hear only the fan with very minimal background noise. After that, I'll give it some regular use in my system for a while too.

I was very happy with the performance of the Wing 12PL after I spent some time listening to it at various operating levels. The thing I loved most about the previously reviewed GELID Silent 12PWM was also evident in this model, it operates in a very pleasing noise range and even at high speeds the only sound heard is the airflow, not the Nanoflux bearing motor. If you're using it in PWM mode, you likely will never hear it a full boar, where it is noticeably loud, but not annoyingly loud. With regular PWM usage, and when I had it on a fan controller, I barely noticed it's existence over my other PC cooling components.
