The right side of the U10 contains the power button and a flap that covers the DC in and SDHC card slot. Note that there is no internal memory on this camera, so you will need a decent size SDHC card if you want to hold any length of video.
Spinning things around to the left side, a small cover pops off to reveal the USB port and AV output. The bottom of this side also has the tripod adapter mount - as I described earlier.
One of the ideas behind the U10 is the one-touch YouTube video upload feature. A dedicated button will zap your videos directly to your YouTube account when the camera is connected via the USB cable. Although it does seem convenient, the fact that I still have to connect the camera via USB to make this happen does slow things down a bit. Where's my wireless YouTube upload ability? The upside of these pocket camcorders is just that - HD video recording that you can fit in your pocket. The downside is that the small lens used on these types of cameras don't do as well in lower light situations and lack any sort of optical zoom. Although the U10 does have 4x digital zoom at 1280x720 and below, it lacks any digital zoom at the full 1920x1080. So unless you're right in the middle of the action, don't expect stunning video quality when you have to zoom in a little. Remember that digital zoom actually decreases the quality of any picture or video, so always try and get as close as possible. Digital stills taken on the U10 are rated at 10-megapixels - certainly impressive for a camera of this size. The thing to keep in mind is that the small lens size won't necessarily make "amazing quality" 10-megapixel photos when compared to a digital still camera. I'd would expect to see "high megapixel" photos that look much like those taken from any video camera - noisy and very sensitive to good lighting to obtain good results. The basic in-camera editing ability will completely remove your PC when it comes to getting your videos ready for YouTube - although for more advanced edits you will definitely want to use some PC-based software.
