They always say not to judge a book by it's cover, but something about the sheer quality of the RVS01 box, with both strength and simplistic printing, made me start to doubt that phrase. The RVS01 packaging is made out of a very dense cardboard and is entirely black minus the areas of printing & photos. To open it, simply lift the front magnetic lip and open the flap, which is exactly how the actual enclosure opens. There, nestled snugly into a cardboard tray, is the RVS01 enclosure. Lift out the tray, and the included accessories are found below. The box for the RVS01 is one of those packages I just feel bad about throwing away - it feels like too much thought went into this package to just go to waste!

The box opening experience is obviously based around how the actual enclosure opens too. The front flap of the enclosure magnetically seals over the connectors at that end. To open the enclosure, simply pull this flap forward and lift it upwards - now you can swap out your drives. There are no sides to the RVS01 - it's entirely open on the side where the drive sits. The only minor annoyance I have with this design is that you have to always "open" the enclosure to access the connectors. It would have been nice to see this flap reversed, so the connectors are always accessible and the opposite end would be opened to access the drive.

The casing of the RVS01 itself is composed of faux-leather and plastic, with the logo embossed on the lower portion of the top panel. Right under the logo is a blue and purple LED access/power strip. You can see this in my pictures below.

Looking at the connector strip, you'll see a Mini-USB connector, E-SATA connector and AC power input.
